Other City Projects
Many smaller, miscellaneous city projects are taken on each year. Their details and status are listed below.
Forest Service Park is located one block west of Main Street on the south edge of downtown Ketchum. It is a quiet location with stunning views and Engelmann spruce trees (the oldest standing trees in town), which were planted in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps when the site was a U.S. Forest Service compound. The City of Ketchum is exploring updates to park infrastructure, amenities, and programming and needs your feedback to help determine what uses the community desires from the public space.
What upgrades are already planned?
Currently, one of the housing structures is being used for City of Ketchum employee housing. The other may be used as employee housing in the future, pending funding for restoration. The exterior of all buildings will see repairs and restoration work done beginning in August of 2024 to preserve the historic structures.
What improvements or changes are being considered for the future?
Currently, the three utility buildings along 1st Street East that previously housed the Wood River Museum of History and Culture are not being used. The city is considering putting these buildings to good use without detracting from the activities or history at the park.

Forest Service Park Current and Future Use Survey
In 2024, the city conducted a survey from July 29 through September 23 that asked the public to share their preferences for Forest Service Park—what they like about the property and what amenities or programming they’d like to see improved. Over 600 people participated. The results are provided below.
The Ketchum Community Survey was last conducted in February of 2024 to help understand residents’ perceptions of the city’s priorities, values, and services. Results will help city officials plan, prioritize, and allocate resources in ways that best honor the public’s wishes. This survey will be conducted every few years to track perception changes and trends over time.

To attain the necessary data, survey participation was offered only to Ketchum residents, business owners, and employees. All 3,600 Ketchum households (identified by the USPS Computerized Delivery Sequence File) were invited to participate, as well as 587 businesses (identified by tax records). Participants were allowed to take the survey only once and received access via a code—unique to each individual—sent by postcard (direct mail), email, text messages, or phone calls. Over 600 people participated. The results are available below.
